latakoo and Huston-Tillotson University, Central Texas’s only HBCU, will equip communications students with professional media tools and hands-on production support.
Austin, Texas – October 1, 2026 – latakoo, an Austin-based media technology company that provides cloud-based tools for transferring, managing, editing and distributing video and other digital media content, has announced a higher education partnership with Huston-Tillotson University (HT), Austin’s first institution of higher learning and the only historically Black university in Central Texas.
The collaboration will give HT students in the communications program access to latakoo’s professional media management and video transfer technology. Initial work will center on the Huston-Tillotson Chronicles and courses in podcasting, digital video communication and related media disciplines.
“This partnership gives our students another opportunity to move beyond discussing media and begin building it,” said Dr. Shawanda J. Stewart, chair of the HT Department of English and Communication, professor of English and partnership lead. “By connecting our courses, student publications and emerging HT Media Network, students can develop their voices, strengthen their technical skills and produce work for audiences beyond the campus.”
Paul Adrian, latakoo’s co-Founder and CEO, said the company is purpose-built to serve the next generation of storytellers. “We started this company to sustain journalists. And the best place to plant seeds is on a college campus. We’re so proud that HTU has decided to use latakoo.”

The collaboration will include platform training, workflow consultation and continuing production guidance from latakoo as students and faculty strengthen the Huston-Tillotson Chronicles and develop recurring programming under the HT Media Network banner. One of the first projects will be a video-based political podcast bringing together students, faculty members and media professionals for distribution across digital platforms and Austin Public Community Television. Regular production deadlines will give students experience in interviewing, reporting, production and multiplatform storytelling, while wider distribution will create opportunities to pursue underwriting and sponsorship support.
latakoo’s Dr. Brian Calfano, an award-winning documentary film producer, and other staff members, all deeply experienced in technology, broadcast and media, will provide classroom support and project development assistance while advising HT on program formats and operating practices for the network.latakoo brings extensive expertise through its work with some of the world’s largest broadcast companies. Its technology has also been incorporated into media courses at large public universities. The company will help HT students apply professional practices for gathering, transferring, organizing, reviewing and distributing content.
